Why?

Why not? I am still planning to live blog the Bulls/Celts game tonight at 8, but I just got home from work and the Kentucky Derby is on. Here it is...

6:28 PM
NBC is playing the Iron Man score, which is terrible, in and out of commercials. I do not understand the heavy usage of that crap. I hope I'm mistaken and it's actually a riff from some famous song I've never heard.

6:29 PM
Fuck! We're starting! I pick 'Legal Ransom' or somethin'.

6:30 PM
It's 'Regal Ransom'. Noted.

6:30 PM
Down the stretch...

6:32 PM
A horse won. 50-1. Cool. I don't know its name.

6:33 PM
These on-horse interviews are gold.

6:35 PM
I can't tell if the winning jockey is overwhelmed with joy or mentally challenged. He's getting more understandable as the interview continues. Must be joy. Noted.

6:36 PM
I still don't know the name of the horse. I'm not efforting it either. Sorry.

6:40 PM
Just curious. What percentage of people in attendance did not bet on the race? Why are so many people cheering? The horse was 50 to 1! Didn't almost everyone just lose a, possibly, significant amount of money? Is it because the people that are able to attend the Kentucky Derby are very wealthy? They don't care about the spare change they wagered?

6:44PM
Mine That Bird! That's your winner. 6 3/4 lengths, I think. My 'Regal Ransom' finished in eighth, I think.

6:52 PM
To be fair, I just typed in the first name I heard once the race started. Had I been prepared, I assuredly would have had:
Win: Mine That Bird 50-1
Place: Pioneerof the Nile 4-1
Show: Musket Man 20-1

6:56 PM
Hey! I just looked up the full standings. I would have been exactly right! Damn! DAAAYYYYYYUUMMM!!!

6:58 PM
Bob Costas just told us that the Dallas Cowboys training center had been damaged in inclement weather. Four people taken to the hospital. Probably Swine Flu.

7:01 PM
Okay. I'm bored. I'll be back around 8:00. I promise.
