Fire Eric Wedge

I am now leading the call to fire Eric Wedge. We are currently at day one.

I am sick and tired of Cleveland Indians teams not being able to live up to expectations. Every time they are picked to win ANYTHING, they fail.

  1. They suprisingly are strong in 2005. Promptly, they are swept out of playoff contention by the TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS (before they were the Rays).
  2. They are picked to be the chic team in 2006. What do they do? Win the World Series? Hell no. They PROUDLY go 78-84.
  3. The next year, everyone picks Detroit due to the fact they were in the WS last in 2006. The Indians, go 96-66, eventually getting to the ALCS. Where, wait, they are up 3-1 on the Boston Red Sox. Yes, the same team that just got TWELVE RUNS WITHOUT RECORDING AN OUT! But back to '07. What happens next in the series? The Indians look completely lost. I know that Boston stepped up to the plate, so to speak, and my hat goes off to them. But, if you're up 3-1, how do you lose your next three games 1-7, 2-12 and 2-11. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN!
  4. In 2008. The Indians now have "playoff experience" and are THE pick to win the WS. And, Eric Wedge delivers Cleveland's first championship since 1964. Heh. Not even close. The Indians play themselves out of the playoffs by mid-June. "But they got back to .500!" WHO FUCKING CARES? You don't play for .500, YOU PLAY TO WIN THE [WORLD SERIES]! as my buddy Herm would say.
  5. 2009. Again, the Indians are playing themselves out of contention. They have a worse record this year. AND WE CAN'T WIN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES! WOOHOO!
Now, those that know me, mainly Phlip and Sweendawg, know that I am very patient. I didn't call for Romeo's head until late last year. And I have been defending, DEFENDING, Eric Wedge for the past few years. This is getting way too much. I hate seeing our bullpen being mis-handled. I hate seeing our starting pitcher allow SIX runners to reach base without getting an out....IN THE SIXTH INNING! I mean, he's a fucking Triple-A'er, he won't work through it! Get him out of there. But, I guess Wedge was thinking, "Who would I put in?" Hey, Sharpie! GET US A BULLPEN WHO CAN HANDLE PRESSURE! What I wouldn't give for one middle relief pitcher that can get us to Kerry Wood. Wait, what's this? AARON LAFFEY IS IN THE BULLPEN? WHAT THE FUCK? HE WAS OUR BEST STARTING PITCHER! That makes sense. Let's completely fuck our rotation up. That makes complete sense.

Eric Wedge will not be the manager of the Cleveland Indians next year. Here's to making that happen.

  1. You left your caps lock on again.

    How is Herm, anyway?

  2. I do that from time to time. Shift and Caps Lock are so close together that it's easy to get messed up.

Hermie is good. He's enjoying his job at ESPN but hopes to join the coaching ranks soon. He's having a party Memorial Day, want me to see if you can come?

  3. That's probably not a good idea after... well, you know.
